The Spirit of Israel is in New York Too!

In recent months, The Spirit of Israel has conquered the Big Apple. Meet our friends of The Spirit of Israel in New York, who never stop supporting and helping our youth, even from tens of thousands of kilometers away.

Being Israeli is not dependent upon current location. We never stop being Israelis, even when we live abroad. When out of the country, we still provide care, compassion, and immediate understanding towards someone who needs help.
In the past six months, the Friends of The Spirit of Israel in New York has been officially operating. With a lot of joy and enthusiasm, a small team with a sense of generosity was formed to think about how to “infect” the local Israeli community with that sense of generosity and social involvement for Israeli society. Idit Shem Tov manages the work in New York on a volunteer basis along with the group members Matan & Vicki Yemini, Tal Westman and Dorit Shapira. They immediately began working and establishing a circle of friends who are involved.

The help of the Friends of The Spirit of Israel in New York in creating scholarships, within the framework of a joint fund by The Spirit of Israel and The Jewish Agency, enables professional and academic studies for graduates of the youth villages, who have no family background and wish to complete their education before or after their military service. The scholarships allow our graduates a better starting point in military or civilian service, and easier integration into independent citizens and contributors of Israel. The importance of these donations to the lives of our graduates cannot be understated, as they can lead to significant placement into military service and/or professional careers. Without these scholarships, many of the youth june-16b-768x576would not have had such opportunities due to their socio-economic status.
The two events were a great success, and more events are planned for the future. To date, five scholarships have been collected for graduates of the youth villages, and we hope to continue to assist in providing additional scholarships that change the course of life for many young people.
You are more than welcome to inform friends, acquaintances and family who live in New York about the opportunity to help The Spirit of Israel.
