The Spirit of Israel

The Spirit of Israel is a non-profit company that was founded in 1998 by the Jewish Agency and Keren Hayesod.

With its mission to recruit upstanding citizens of Israel and the Israeli business sector for corporate social responsibility along with Jewish communities around the world, The Spirit of Israel is fulfilling this objective through the tens of thousands of benefactors and volunteers from all sectors of the population who have joined the organization: businessmen, educators, social workers, writers, artists, musicians and athletes who generously give their time, money and know-how.

The name “Spirit of Israel” was given by Ehud Manor, z”l, a venerated songwriter who  gave his time, insight and energy in developing the organization.

Manor was and still is a vital component of the Spirit of Israel.

In its first years of operation the Spirit of Israel supported childless elderly people and Holocaust survivors. The Spirit of Israel contributed the necessary equipment and organized cultural and recreational activities for the elderly.

Today, The Spirit of Israel is changing the face of Israeli society by promoting social activism, reducing the socio-economic gaps in the Israeli periphery and providing solutions for thousands of children and teenagers at risk.

The Spirit of Israel’s Board of Directors comprises volunteers and philanthropists as well as businessmen, educators and social workers. In tandem with the Board of Directors, a “Leadership group” of sponsors and volunteers is active in the recruitment and development of resources from the business community in Israel.
